Dances With Casinos

In Dances with Wolves, Kevin Costner’s Lieutenant Dunbar risked his life and career to stand up for Native American rights, but in real life things are a bit more complicated. Costner and his brother, Dan, have staged a two-man cavalry charge into South Dakota’s Black Hills, looking for space to build a $100 million, 635-acre, 320-room golf and gambling resort. For obvious reasons, they are calling it “The Dunbar.” But the costners are encountering fierce opposition from the very people whose cause was defended in the film.
