The Fooducate app lets you scan hundreds of thousands of food products to get a real nutritional picture.
The Fooducate app helps guide anyone at the grocery store who’s confused by ingredients, nutrition labels, marketing hype and health claims. The app enables shoppers, through their iPhone cameras, to scan the barcodes of over 200,000 unique food products (with more on the way) and instantly see how nutritious they really are.

Fooducate assigns each package of frozen chicken nuggets or box of cereal a letter grade along with brief explanations and warnings about its nutrients and ingredients. Shoppers can easily and clearly see what manufacturers don’t want them to notice, such as excessive sugar and sodium, tricky trans fats, high fructose corn syrup, controversial food colorings, as well as additives and preservatives. Shoppers learn the whole truth, as well as recommendations for healthier alternatives.
